PRE-WASH CARE

Cotton is a natural fiber celebrated for its freshness and breathability. Before washing, we recommend always turning the garment inside out: this simple step protects the outer fibers from mechanical friction and preserves color vibrancy over time.

Unlike wool, cotton is not prone to pilling, but proper initial care ensures the weave remains compact and soft, wash after wash.
WASHING

Tenné cotton garments are designed to offer you maximum daily comfort. While it is a sturdier fiber than wool, excessive heat is its main enemy. Here is how to care for it:

Check the label: Always verify the specific instructions for each garment, especially for fiber blends or special dyes.

Moderate temperature: Although cotton handles high temperatures well, washing at 30°C or 40°C is the ideal choice to prevent shrinkage and save energy.

Natural detergents: Use gentle, non-aggressive detergents. For colored garments, avoid products containing optical brighteners or bleach, which could alter the original shade.

Machine washing: Cotton loves space. Do not overload the drum to prevent deep creases that are difficult to iron, and set an intermediate spin cycle (800-1000 rpm) to remove moisture without stressing the seams.

DRYING AND IRONING

Cotton has a high absorption capacity, so proper drying is essential to maintain the garment’s original shape:

Natural drying: Give the garment a good shake right out of the washing machine to smooth out the fibers. Ideally, let it air dry, but avoid direct sunlight—especially for dark colors—which could cause fading.

No tumble dryer: To preserve the luster and original size of your Tenné garment, we recommend avoiding the tumble dryer, as it tends to stiffen and shrink natural fibers.

Ironing: Cotton irons best while still slightly damp. Use steam and a medium-high temperature to remove every crease and restore the fabric’s natural softness.

Stubborn stains: Address stains promptly. Cotton allows for more vigorous cleaning than wool, but it is always better to dab rather than rub forcefully to avoid damaging the yarn's weave.
